Tuesdays with Julie Ann - Trend Watch: Paper Boxes

March 18th, 2008 · No Comments

If you are a fan of Somerset Magazine, you may have noticed that creating a little vignette in a paper box is a recent trend. The digital scrapbooking world has also recently embraced this trend by offering photo-realistic wrapped paper boxes for you to create with. For hybrid scrapbookers, this means that we can use these adorable boxes for projects such as cards that can be sent in the mail, yet be just as stunning as the real thing.

My examples will use the Little Couture Boxes by Julie Mead Desigsn at e-scapeandscrap.net.

Here are a few more on the market today:

Here are my hybrid Easter cards that I created using Julie Mead’s Little Couture Boxes. For both cards, I printed the box on matte photo paper. I then cut them out with scissors or you can use an mat knife. I put them on pop-dots when I adhered them to the card.

This second card was directly inspired by a box I saw in Somerset Holidays and Celebrations magazine. Again, putting the digital printout of the box on pop-dots helps to add realistic dimension. Another tip is that I used my mat knife to cut around the ribbon so I could slip the dress underneath, then cut a slit at the loop so I could slide the arm in and make it look like the ribbon is around her arm.

Thanks a million for looking at my Trend Watch today!
