Looking for a way to add depth to your digital elements? I’ll show you a quick and easy way to add drop shadows to your elements that will make them stand out.

In Adobe Photoshop CS2 open your digital element. Go to File> Open

After your element is open Go to Layer > Layer style and select Drop shadow from the drop down menu bar.

Next, move the opacity slider to the right until you get the effect you desire and click ok ( I wanted my letters to stand out so I chose 100%).

You are now ready to use your element, to use just click and drag onto your page.

Here is a look at my digital page before I added drop shadows to the letters and arrows. Notice how the title and arrows seem to blend in?

Now here is my digital page after I added drop shadows. I also printed it and added buttons and glitter stars.

Here is another digital layout that I added drop shadows to the alpha, swirls, and hearts to make them stand out. Then I printed my page and embellished with rub ons, chipboard alpha, clock and buttons.

Credits: Jana M: True Love digital kit (available at The Digi Chick) papers, glitter spots, alpha, frame, swirls, hearts, wings, and arrows all from kit. Other supplies: Daisy D’s: rub ons, buttons; Heidi Swapp: gold chipboard letters, ghost stars, other: clock, glitter.
