Title: Where to print 12"x12" digital scrapbook pages Post by: jls62081 on January 15, 2008, 01:10:52 AM I am new to the digital scrapbooking world. I have the Scrapbook Factory Deluxe 4.0 and love it!! But i have no clue on where to print my pages at??? I have looked online and it seems like every place is going to be like $4-6 per page plus shipping. does anyone have any suggestions on somewhere that prints good pages but not so expensive. I understand that it is not going to be dirt cheap i just am looking for the best place at a good price. It would be nice to find somewhere local (walmart, rite aid, etc..) just havent seen that around ???
Also how much do those printers cost that print the larger sizes?? approx?? Also is the ink more expensive? Thanks for you help Title: Re: Where to print 12"x12" digital scrapbook pages Post by: Gina Lideros on January 15, 2008, 07:01:38 AM Not sure about Walmart but Costco makes 12 X 12 prints. I'm not sure what the individual price is (I think it is around $1-$2). I recently heard a great tip online, that if you create a 12×36 file in Photoshop, then save three 12×12 LO in a row, you can print them as a panoramic for about $5 USD and cut them apart at home later, however, not all Costco locations have the right equipment to do this, so you might want to call first. This might be something to check into if you are already a member. Hope this helps. :)

If you are a member I definitely recommend Costco if you have one. Costco offers 12x18, 12x12, 11x14, 8x12, 8x10 and 8x8 prints (*and smaller too) at a reasonable price. 12x18's & 12x12's are $2.99 (USD), the 11x14's are $1.99 and the 8x12's, 8x10's & 8x8's are $1.49. I used Costco almost solely for my printing before I got my Epson R1800. I like their 12x18 and 8x12's because I would use the extra space for additional pages (for example I could print 1 - 12x12 and 2 6x6's on a 12x18 for just $3- ! Great prices. They do also have a variety of other sizes that can be ordered online and some come directly to your door. Sams club also does larger prints but I haven't used them much. You could check with your local one to see. Walmart also does enlargements and their prices are comparible. I don't know what you have in your area but those would be the places I recommend that are local. ONLINE I would recommend you check into www.polkadotpotato.com and www.goodlifephoto.com. both have great prices. HPB9180, Epson r1800, Canon ipf5000, and many more. Google any of these and you can get general information on printer and ink cost but I will tell you that I have an older Epson, (model 2200) that I bought on ebay for $250 and I spend about $200 a year on ink. I am happy to provide more specific information on printing your own if you are interested.

Also, the price is the same as the R1800 was and the ink prices about the same I think. (full price ~ $550)
I find that I pay, roughly, per print (12 x 12 size that is) $3.85. This is an estimate based on me running a variety of papers and prints through my printer until the ink was out. I combine the price of the paper with the cost of a set of ink and divided it by the # of prints I made and this is about what I got for pricing. The B9180 from HP is about $650 full price and I think the price per page is about $4.00 Inks last longer because they are larger than the other printers but they also cost more to replace. When you average it all out it runs about the same as the other printers do you just don't have to repurchase ink as often. There are 2 reviews on the R1800 and B9180 printers (one that is in our last issue Vol 1 issue 4 and the next is coming out in Vol 2 Issue 1) We'll have a review on the R1900 soon too. When it comes down to purchasing a printer v.s. using a local print lab I think that you have to figure out exactly what you'll end up doing w/ your printer. If you're hybrid scrapbooking I think that overall having your own printer is much more efficent and allows for more print options. (Like transparencies, vellum, etc.) But if you are simply going to print backgrounds or digital pages to embellish on top then you could get away with using a local print shop. Unless the print shops do 12x12's for $4 or less then you should look into a personal printer or the print shops online that offer better pricing. Amy knows a lot about printing so if you have time you should take her up on additional information. I hope that helps :) Title: Re: Where to print 12"x12" digital scrapbook pages Post by: Julie Fei-Fan Balzer on January 23, 2008, 07:15:09 AM I was in an online chat with Jessica Sprague last night and she waxed poetic about the Epson R1800. I'm excited to hear that the 1900 is even better!
