Post by: Di Hickman on September 29, 2007, 02:50:12 AM

I've printed on papers, photo paper, cardstock (plain and textured), sticker paper

strangely yet to print on transparancies even though I have had a packet here for AGES

I print mostly on cotton, (matte, archival), photorealistic, canvas, and a little vellum.  I have an Epson and it is pretty versatile.

Great topic to bring here on the boards. Let me dig out my list I made in August.

I have not necessarily used all of these things.
  • I found  "Design & Print DoorTalker Door Hangers"
  • I love Sticker Paper
  • Artist Greeting Cards in different textures
  • Thai Unryo Paper

If you want links to any of these, just PM me.

any tips for printing on vellum?
I find it take AGES to dry and is a little spotty quality
I've used it in the laser printer but thats only black and limits my options

The type I currently carry works with all kinds of ink and printers; however, I find I need to cut the ink saturation down before printing.  I am not referring to opacity, (although that also helps).  I mean when you go to print, in the print preview section of most printer drivers, you have the option of lowering the amount of ink that is put down.  If anyone has more specific questions, I will try to help you further.

I have printed on a variety of Cardstocks, thin chipboard, canvas, vellum, transparencies, sticker paper, photo paper, art paper, origami paper, ribbons, Tattoo sheets, window cling materials and post-its - to name a few things.

I like to stick things through my printer. I try out all kinds of products in it LOL. My poor printer!

Di, there is a really neat little pouch thingy... I can't remember the name of it - hrm The Scrap Perfect Pouch maybe? That you can rub onto slick surfaces to make printing possible. I've used it before , though it has been a while, and it worked well.

I haven't had the opportunity to try Hawk Mountains Vellum but all the papers I've used from them have printed gorgeously.  I have used the Vellum by World Win Papers and they print wonderfully. You can see some examples of use with them in the Same Products Different Takes article in Issue 3.  It was quick drying and easy to use.  :)

There is also a company called Ink Aid www.inkaid1.com that makes a coating that you can put on pretty much any surface to make it printable with an inkjet printer.
