The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) today announced partnerships with leading consumer show producers, TransWorld Exhibits and Southern Shows Inc., to host CHA Craft SuperShow Sections at three venues in 2011. According to the agreements, CHA Craft SuperShow Sections will debut as pavilions at the TransWorld’s Jewelry, Fashion & Accessories Show (JF&A Show) in Rosemont, Illinois July 21- 24, and in the Southern Women’s Show in Charlotte, North Carolina September 15-18, and in Orlando, Florida from October 13-16, 2011.

“By partnering with leaders like TransWorld Exhibits and Southern Shows Inc., CHA will continue to expand the craft and hobby industry by reaching 75,000 new crafters in three key markets this year,” said Steve Berger, President and CEO, CHA.

“TransWorld Exhibits is very excited to partner with CHA. We are looking forward to adding the fun and energy of the CHA Craft SuperShow Section to our 34-year tradition of excellence at TransWorld’s JF&A Show in Rosemont,” said Don Olstinske, Show Manager, TransWorld Exhibits.

“The partnership with CHA to bring the Craft SuperShow Section to the Southern Women’s Show dovetails perfectly with Southern Shows. We’re really looking forward to adding the CHA Craft SuperShow Sections to our shows,” said Laura Campbell, National Sponsorship Director of Southern Shows, Inc. “This exciting feature will inspire creativity and encourage women to try crafts they can enjoy on their own or with friends or family.”

While most craft shows focus on one or two craft disciplines, the CHA Craft SuperShow Section educates and inspires crafters on a broad range of crafts. The original Craft SuperShow provided cross-promotional opportunities where knitters tried scrapbooking, scrapbookers tried quilting, and quilters experimented with beading. This year show attendees will be able to participate in craft make-n-takes and product demonstrations, learn the latest craft techniques, explore creativity, and buy some of the hottest craft products available.

The streamlined CHA Craft SuperShow Section will differ slightly from the original Craft SuperShow in that the Section area is composed of 50 – 100 exhibitors opposed to being its own event with craft education being offered as in-booth instruction only. Additionally, TransWorld Exhibits and Southern Shows Inc., will handle all sales, contracts and negotiations regarding exhibit space for their respective venues. For more about the CHA Craft SuperShow Sections go to www.CraftSuperShow.com.

I am so ready for spring. Since I’m having family over for dinner tomorrow, I decided to make up a spring centerpiece to brighten my kitchen! Let me show you how I did it.

Supplies:

It’s basically very simple.

I cut some daffodils from my yard that weren’t very happy about all the snow we have been having.

I bent the Easy Arranger around my small vase and set it in the middle of my main pot.

Then I filled the pot with some potting soil.

I took the hanging ivy out of the pot and gently divided it in half.

Then I put one half of the ivy on one side of the vase and the other half of the ivy on the other side.

I moistened the pansies in their six pack so the soil wouldn’t fall away when I pulled them out. Then I placed them randomly in the main pot throughout the ivy.

I filled the remainder of the pot with potting soil and sprayed everything with a water mister.

(I know the pansies won’t be happy inside with limited light, but I can take them out in a week or two and plant them outside. Then I can change out the flowers in the vase anytime with the ivy cascading around them. Beautiful!)

“I believe that if, at the end of it all according to our abilities, we have done something to make others a little happier and something to make ourselves a little happier, that is about the best we can do. To make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts. We must try to contribute joy to the world. That is true no matter what our problems, our health, our circumstances…we must try. I didn’t always know this and I am happy that I lived long enough to find it out.”

And about the way he looks now after his surgeries took his lower jaw and voice: ”This is the way I look and my life is happy and productive…nobody looks perfect…we have to find peace with the way we look and get on with life.”

I just ran across this from Clutter Busting by Brooks Palmer: “Happiness is not an object. It is a subjective state. It is not dependent on things….I was told by my college art instructors that it’s important to have a clean work surface so your mind is clear to create great art. I had never thought of that. I tried it and found that when my art space was clean, it was easy to access unlimited creativity — I wasn’t distracted. It felt good.”

I know Rhonna’s not going to like this picture! LOL! You are so cute!! Love ya, Rhonna!

We were served wonderful treats courtesy of Dear Lizzie’s, got a fantabulous kit of brushes from Rhonna, and she even had some seriously cool give-aways from House of 3! I made some new friends – hi Julie, Angie, and Heather! It was great fun to see everyone’s faces when they ‘got it’! We even learned how to make our own brushes and some other very cool secret tips! Thanks so much for teaching this class, Rhonna! What a great evening!
